Prize winner:
As the Winterveldt Community Project Supporter in 2012, "Save African Children" grade 7C and 9C pupils and teachers at Gymnasium Hochrad won the award for the "Democratic Citizenship" Digital Media Competition, Sustainable Development and Challenges for Young People in a Globalized World.
The Democratic Citizenship Contest is a nationwide competition in which 4,200 projects have been submitted in 21 tenders.
EDC (Education for Democratic Citizenship) is a set of practices and activities designed to help young people and adults to actively participate in democratic life and to exercise their human rights and responsibilities in society. The Declaration aims to promote citizenship and the common values of freedom, justice, tolerance and non-discrimination through education.
All students of the Golden Youth Club from Winterveldt, South Africa, had the advantage to meet the students and exchange their lives with them for a few weeks (stay with host families, excursions, rehearsals). Artistic forms in the sense of peer-learning were united. The intercultural, social and communicative skills have been expanded and the English language skills improved.
They got a differentiated picture of South Africa and Germany, which is familiar with development issues and global contexts.

„Save African Children“ is a non-profit Organisation founded by Caryn Liew in 2011.
We had visited the Golden Youth Club, Hope of Africa Christian Church and Youth In Action at Winterveldt, South Africa from 2011 until 2013.
1 Timothy 2:4 who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
